Dealio Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data Dealio (“we”, “our”, “the app”) collects, how we use it, and your rights regarding it.

Dealio is a bookkeeping app for friendly home games. We do not process payments, hold funds, or facilitate real-money gambling — all money moves directly between players.

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account or use Dealio, we collect:

• Email address — to create your account and let you sign in.
• Display name — shown to other players in sessions you join.
• Phone number — entered at signup and (for hosts) when quick-adding guest players.
• Optional payment handles — Venmo or PayPal handles you choose to add to your profile, shown to other players at settle-up.
• Game data — sessions you create or join, buy-ins, re-buys, chip counts, transactions, and settlement records.
• Device push token — only if you allow push notifications, so we can notify you about transactions and session events.
• Firebase User ID — assigned by Firebase Authentication.

We do not collect: location data, photos, contacts, health data, browsing history, advertising identifiers, or any other category not listed above.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information only to:

• Authenticate your account and keep you signed in.
• Show your name and profile to people you share a session with.
• Sync sessions, transactions, and chip counts across devices in real time.
• Send push notifications you opt into.
• Diagnose crashes and bugs (via standard Firebase logs).

We do not sell or rent your data. We do not use it for advertising or for tracking you across other companies’ apps or websites.

3. Who Can See What

• Other players in your session can see your display name, avatar, and the ledger of transactions for that session.
• Phone numbers and emails of quick-added guest players are visible ONLY to the host and co-host of that session, never to other participants or the public.
• Settled sessions are stored in your own history. They are not publicly browsable by other users.

4. Third-Party Services

Dealio uses Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Messaging) to provide the app. Data is stored on Google Cloud servers. See Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

We do not integrate any advertising networks or third-party analytics beyond Firebase’s own service-functionality logs.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Your account data and game history are kept for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing the address below — we will delete your account within 30 days.

You can also delete sessions you have hosted from inside the app (Session Detail → Delete session). Deleting a session removes all of its players, transactions, and ledger entries.

6. Security

We use Firebase’s security rules and TLS encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.

7. Children’s Privacy

Dealio is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we materially change this policy, we will update the date at the top and notify users in-app or by email.
